What is PPPoE?
Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet. This is a commonly used way for broadband suppliers to maintain connection control and user accounting. PPPoE operates over the DSL circuit to authenticate the End User with a RADIUS server, which then gives the End User's machine an IP address and starts allowing the End User to pass traffic over the Internet. Common PPPoE programs/clients are: Enternet 100/300/500, WinPOET, MacPOET, RASPPPoE, and others.
