Spam, Viruses, and Computer SecurityWe have developed the following resources to provide you with important information about Spam, viruses, and computer security. For more information, please select one of the following: Definition of Spam (UBE or UCE) Spam, also known as Unsolicited Bulk E-mail (UBE) or Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (UCE), is Internet mail ("e-mail") that is sent to a group of recipients who have not requested it. A mail recipient may have at one time asked a sender for bulk e-mail, but then later asked that sender not to send any more e-mail or otherwise not have indicated a desire for such additional mail; hence any bulk e-mail sent after that request was received is also UBE. Our Spam Policy Green Mountain Access does not and will not tolerate any person or company who abuses our services to transmit unsolicited commercial e-mail or unsolicited bulk or spam e-mail from our e-mail servers. In addition, maintaining on open SMTP relay is prohibited. When a complaint is received, GMA has the discretion to determine from all of the evidence whether the e-mail recipients were from an "opt-in" e-mail list. Spam Identification Green Mountain Access is pleased to be using an e-mail spam filtering solution called Red Condor. Red Condor is designed to block spam, viruses, and e-mails with malicious code. Each day a Spam Digest report is sent to your e-mail address, listing any quarantined e-mails considered to be spam or otherwise harmful. All quarantined e-mails listed in the digest report can be viewed and released to your inbox. Each e-mail account has a Personal Dashboard where the user can control email options such as: Spam Digest scheduling, e-mail filtering rules, whitelists, and blacklists. Each Personal Dashboard is pre-configured for the best spam protection. If custom settings are required, the Personal Dashboard can be accessed by a link found in the Spam Digest reports or login to your GMA Webmail Account from our home page. For more information about this service please visit our Red Condor FAQ. Reporting Spam If you do receive spam that has made it through the Red Condor filters, please forward samples as attachments to spam@my.gmavt.redcondor.com so that we can improve the quality of this service. Also, you may report spam to the Federal Trade Commission by forwarding the e-mail to spam@uce.gov. There is a form available at www.ftc.gov to file a formal complaint about unsolicited commercial e-mail. To report a spammer that is using Green Mountain Access services please contact abuse@gmavt.net.
